The short answer
Unlike Quantitative Skills, this section is closer to learned school mathematics. Gaps in fractions, equations, geometry, or translating word problems can become visible quickly.

How this score fits into the HSPT
Mathematics combines with Reading, Mathematics, and Language as applicable to form the Total Basic Skills score. All five main subtests contribute to the Battery Composite. Schools may interpret section scores differently, so confirm admissions and placement policies with each school.
